Crazy moggy holds family and dog hostage in bedroom

A "very, very, very, hostile" 22lb house cat called Lux had to be subdued by cops after it trapped its owners inside a bedroom.

The cat has a "history of violence", according to its owner Lee Palmer, who said it had attacked their seven-month-old baby boy, Jesse.

Jesse suffered some scratches to the face but was not seriously hurt, thankfully, but Palmer said he had "kicked the cat in the rear" after it attacked the child.

Palmer's girlfriend, Teresa Barker, said that "the cat did a 180 and turned on us", prompting the family's quick retreat to the safety of the bedroom.

The 911 call, which you can hear on the clip below, describes the cat charging at the door and you can hear its screams too.

The black-and-white Himalayan has since calmed down and Portland Police Bureau spokesman Sergeant Pete Simpson, who took the call, said the cat was left in the custody of the family.

Simpson, who said it was his first time coming across a case like this in his 20 years with the force, said it wasn't clear what they intend to do with Lux.

The family later said they are overwhelmed with all of the media attention, and have now decided to take Lux to a cat psychologist to help work through their issues.
