Bressie delivers a smackdown to cocky contestant Dagan - but was he right?

It all kicked off on The Voice of Ireland last night

There were some tense moments on 'The Voice of Ireland' last night after judge Bressie rounded on a contestant he accused of 'mouthing'.

Wicklow native Dagan Vickers - picked from the blind auditions by Kian Egan - was battling Paddy Molloy, with the pair singing 'Radioactive' by Kings of Leon.

However 26-year-old Dagan's performance drew some raised eyebrows from the judging panel, with Jamelia saying she "din't enjoy it at all."

"You didn't seem to be taking it seriously at all," she said. "You just seemed to be messing about."

Levelled at a man who lists 'finishing the Ann and Barry books' as the proudest achievement in life, that seems like fair comment.

But the worst was yet to come, with Bressie laying into the self-professed former MMA enthusiast after he demonstrated some fighting moves onstage.

"This is becoming more about you and your attitude," the judge told him. "Stop with the mouthing man - it gets you nowhere.

"It doesn't impress, and it's not funny."

That's put a hould to your whist, as my mother might say.

Watch the exchange below - was Bressie right, or was he too hard on Dagan?

Kathryn Thomas eventually brought proceedings back into order - and unsurprisingly, Kian picked Paddy.

Back to the drawing board, Dagan. We wouldn't be asking Bressie for a reference…
