Penn praises Pakistani women's group with Frontline Defenders Award

Actor Sean Penn has led tributes to a Pakistani women's group which has been recognised at a ceremony in Dublin today.

SAWERA has been presented with the Frontline Defenders Award for improving the independence of women in the face of violence and oppression.

The award was accepted by Noorzia Farid. She paid tribute to her sister, who founded the group, and was murdered by militants in 2012.

Sean Penn was on hand to present the award. He says SAWERA deserved the award for its courage.
