Master Sword – flower pot duel doesn't go well for Texan men
In Houston, Texas, two men became involved in a heated argument involving a mutual female friend. One man grabbed a flower pot as a weapon; the other grabbed the Master Sword.
A local news station carried the story of Eugene Thompson. He lived with his girlfriend, but stabbed her estranged husband with a replica video game sword after a row broke out.
Thompson's girlfriend rang her husband after an argument, and let him in to the house. Thompson went to the bedroom and told him to leave, Local 2 reports.
"I heard him heading to the bedroom where I was, so I jumped in the closet and I grabbed one of my replica swords," he told reporters.
"I pulled it out and stood at the doorway, and he was coming down the hallway at me while I was yelling, 'Go away, you don't live here' and he just walked right into the point of the sword, I don't know if he thought it was a toy."
The sword was not a toy.
The Master Sword is a staple of the long-running Legend of Zelda video game series. In the games, it is usually a key magical item used to fight evil. Thompson's version was a hardened replica – a real sword.
Thompson's adversary picked up a flower pot in retaliation and threw it, causing a gash on his head. Both men needed medical treatment.
And the aftermath? "I am just trying to figure out what to do from here. I have to find a new place to live," said Thompson.
