Mammy's boys - the leading men who brought their mums to the Oscars

Michael, Jared and Matthew, we salute you.

Mammy's boys - the leading men who brought their mums to the Oscars

The cream of the Hollywood crop took to the red carpet for the 2014 Academy Awards in Los Angeles last night.

Amid the winners, losers and red-carpet hi-jinks we noticed a bit of a trend - leading men taking their mammies as their dates.

All together now - awww…

JARED LETO AND MUM CONSTANCE

And isn't Constance a stunner?

Jared's mom Constance and brother Shannon were in the house to watch the Messiah-resembling actor-slash-rocker pick up the Best Supporting Actor gong for 'Dallas Buyers' Club', and Jared paid touching tribute to her in his acceptance speech.

"In 1971 Bossier City, Louisian, there was a teenage girl who was pregnant with her second child," Leto said.

"She was a high school dropout and a single mom, but somehow she managed to make a better life for herself and her children.

"She encouraged her kids to be creative, to work hard and to do something special. That girl is my mother and she's here tonight.

"'I love you mom. Thank you for teaching me to dream."

Good Guy Jarad Leto.

MICHAEL FASSBENDER AND MAMMY ADELE

Adele - who bears a striking resemblance to Jean Byrne - owned and ran a restaurant in Killarney with her husband Josef (Michael's dad).

Now that they are retired, Adele has plenty of time for gallivanting around Hollywood with her famous son and his famous beard.

And more power to her, we say.

MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY AND MOTHER MARY KATHLENE

Matthew also used his acceptance speech - he won Best Actor, again for 'Dallas Buyers' Club' - to honour his mom.

"To my mother [Mary] who's here tonight, who taught me and my two older brothers -- demanded -- that we respect ourselves," he said.

"And in turn we were able to learn how to respect others.

"Thank you for that mama."

Big softies, the three of them…
