Rare edition of Mein Kampf, signed by Hitler, up for auction
A two-volume edition of Adolf Hitler's Mein Kampf, personally signed by Hitler, is set to be auctioned online on Thursday.
The auctioneer said the book made Hitler rich at the time, rich enough to buy himself a Mercedes Benz from prison.
"It's a horrible book, but it is a piece of history (and) a very rare item," said auctioneer Nate Sanders.
"The same people who buy (these books) might also buy George Washington, or Dwight Eisenhower. They collect (historical items)."
He said there were many copies of Mein Kampf from the 30s and 40s, especially as Hitler latterly gave the book as a gift to all married couples and all soldiers. The edition for sale this week dates from the 1920s, when far fewer copies were printed.
