'No contest' Bynes given probation

Troubled former teen star Amanda Bynes has pleaded no contest to alcohol-related reckless driving after she clipped a Los Angeles County sheriff’s patrol car.

Bynes, 27, who entered the plea through her lawyer, was sentenced to three years’ probation and three months of alcohol education classes.

Bynes was arrested in April 2012 on suspicion of drink-driving after the police car was hit in West Hollywood.

The actress, already on probation for driving with a suspended licence, received psychiatric treatment last year after authorities said she started a fire in the driveway of a Ventura County home.

She also was ordered to have counselling after she allegedly threw a glass bong out of a Manhattan window last year.

Bynes starred in the Nickelodeon series All That and The Amanda Show in the late 1990s and early 2000s on and in the sitcom What I Like About You.
