Guardians of the Galaxy trailer reveals the oddest superhero movie yet

Have you heard of Marvel's latest big-budget superhero flick, Guardians of the Galaxy? If not, prepare to be – er, a bit confused.

While you might think that Marvel pushed the bounds of believability with the team-up story in The Avengers, you ain't seen nothing yet.

Starring a homicidal raccoon (yep), a living alien tree, and a sense of humour that seems like someone in Marvel said: "hey, let's just have some fun with this one."

Also, that's an interesting music choice in the background there – it sounds a bit like the chanting in the aquarium ritual in Pixar's Finding Nemo.

But that would be ridiculous! No, it's actually Blue Swede's 1974 song Hooked on a Feeling. Obviously.

Guardians of the Galaxy will definitely be interesting, and it's a bit of a gamble for Marvel to put so much money into relatively unknown characters - this team was only first published in the comic books in 2008.

But, again, they have the homicidal Rocket Raccoon. Who, by the by, is voiced by Bradley Cooper.

We can see the resemblance.

Guardians of the Galaxy releases in August this year stateside. The trailer premiered on the Jimmy Kimmel show last night.
