Mariah: I fire nannies who ‘make themselves more important in the baby's mind than me’

Mariah Carey admits she regularly fires her children's nannies.

The 'You're Mine' singer, who has two-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe with her husband Nick Cannon, insists she is a "hands-on" mother and doesn't like anyone interfering with the bond she has with her kids.

The 43-year-old star told 'The Breakfast Club' on Power 105.6 in New York City: "Unfortunately I have to have nannies but I'm very hands-on.

“I fire nannies like this and I hate doing it, but I have to because if they try to make themselves more important in the baby's mind than me..."

Carey is disappointed that she and 'America's Got Talent' host Nick will be apart on Valentine's Day tomorrow.

She said: "He's not even going to be home from what I hear now, (according to) the schedule."

But she insists her husband is very romantic.

She said: "I have to say Nick is very festive as well. I give him credit where credit's due; flowers, we celebrate our anniversary every month of the year."

The couple, who got married in April 2008, put their mansion in Bel Air, California on the market for $12.99m earlier this week.
