Rosser gets his own plaque in Kiely's

Anyone who's a fan of Ross O'Carroll Kelly will know that his regular watering hole is Kiely's of Donnybrook.

A rugby-in-the-blood establishment in the heart of Rosser's south city stomping ground, it's where the "greatest Irish player never to make it" (in the words of George Hook) retires with JP, Christian, Oisinn and Fionn to sink a few pints of Heino and discuss their sexual misadventures and/or Leinster's progress in Europe.

It's a second home for Castlerock's finest, and the good folks at Kiely's have recognised that fact with a monument in his honour which was unveiled last night.

A plaque.

In the jacks.

The plaque was unveiled last night by author Paul Howard, Rosser's alter-ego and the man behind the phenomenon that is the 1999 Leinster Schools Cup-winning captain.

Not surprisingly, he was chuffed.

It's a well-deserved accolade - kudos to Ross and Paul for keeping us in stitches for so long, and to the crew at Kielys for spotting what, in PR terms, might be deemed an 'easy conversion'.

The latest in the Ross O'Carroll Kelly series is Downturn Abbey, available in all good bookshops or you can have ours after we're finished it.
