PHOTO: The curious case of the bendy hurley

Sports photo of the day… weekend… possibly year.

It's early days yet, but a contender for Sport Photo of the Year 2014 emerged from yesterday's Waterford Crystal Cup clash between Limerick and Clare.

Taken by snapper Tony Grehan of the Limerick-based Press 22 photo agency, the shot shows the hurl of Clare's Nicky O'Connell getting up close and personal with the nose of Limerick's Cathal McNamara - and apparently defying the laws of physics in the process.
