Colonel Chris Hadfield has delivered a performance of ‘Ride On’ for Dublin Lord Mayor Oisín Quinn that Christy Moore would be proud of.

Ireland’s newest tourism ambassador was visiting Mayor Quinn at Mansion House this morning and again showed us why, as a country, we love the former astronaut.

The Canadian captured the hearts of the Irish public by tweeting stunning photos of our land during his stay at the International Space Station.

Hadfield, who is currently on a five-day trek, has a daughter studying Trinity College and is due to visit Armagh, Belfast and Donegal as well.

While in the capital he also visited the grounds of Na Fianna GAA and tried his hand at hurling with Tourism Minister Leo Varadkar.

Hadfield is a passionate ice hockey supporter and from the looks of the concentration in at back swing he could frighten many a corner forward!

The colonel may finally have put an old saying to bed today, “he can fly a rocket but can he put over a 65?”

From the looks of it he probably could, the man can do no wrong in our eyes!
