Des Bishop does standup routine in Chinese comedy club - in Mandarin

Well known Irish-American comic Des Bishop has been in China for the bones of a year, immersing himself in that country's culture and language for a forthcoming RTÉ series titled (imaginatively) 'Des Bishop's Chinese Revolution'.

Now the In The Name of the Fada and My Dad was Nearly James Bond star has posted a new video on YouTube in which he demonstrates his newly-acquired Mandarin skills.

We don't understand a word, but he's jumping around a bit, there appears to be some rapping, and the audience are certainly liking it…

The footage was shot in October, but only uploaded to YouTube last night owing to restrictions - we're not sure where, but Des has been touring in Nanjing, Wuxi, Suzhou and Shanghai, according to his Twitter.

We'll have to wait until the series comes out to find out more - it's slated to air in the spring - but we're impressed, as ever, by Des' commitment to his work.
