An Irish animated short film, 'The Missing Scarf', has been shortlisted for the Academy Award's Best Animated Short 2014.

The film, narrated by Star Trek's George Takei, is in a shortlist of 10.

The final five nominees for the Animated Short Oscar will be announced in January.

The Missing Scarf is directed by Eoin Duffy, produced by Jamie Hogan and co-funded by the IFB.

It is described as a black comedy that explores some of life's common fears: the fear of the unknown, failure, rejection and death.
