I should have studied engineering.

Estonian man goes on round-the-world trip in boat-car he built himself

Can we just have a moment for how cool engineering is, as a profession?

Take Mait Nilson, for example - an Estonian mechanical engineer who, for some wonderful reason, had a life-long dream to travel around the world in an amphibious car that could sail the seas and drive over land.

So he built one. Meet the Amphibear:

This bad boy is a Toyota Land Cruiser that has been almost entirely rebuilt, mainly with the addition of two giant drives that fold down into the water and make this giant car float.

But we know what you're thinking. Surely it can't actually work, right?

Oh ye of little faith. Fetch the epic music.

Nilson can cover 120 nautical miles – about 220km – in a day, and he's spent all his money building the machine. He's trying to cover the costs of his adventure through sponsorship and private donations, in return for which you get your name on the vehicle.

How many CEO points is mechanical engineering again?
