Hello, I have a name!
You may remember we brought you a story about Fota Wildlife Park newest addition and his search for a new name, well he has been given his title from one of Ireland’s sporting icons.
Say hello to ROG!

He has been named in honour of former Munster and Ireland rugby legend Ronan O’Gara.
The Park received over 8,000 entries via social media to name the little guy and the winner was Alan Cogan on Twitter.
Speaking on the decision to name the cub Head of Marketing Stephen Ryan was delighted with the reaction: “The response was phenomenal the biggest we have ever had for naming an animal and in the end we decided to honour someone locally in Ronan who has also been a member of the park with his wife Jessica for the last couple of years”.

Alan will now get to meet ROG, the cheetah that is, when he claims his prize of the ‘Behind the Scenes Experience’ at Fota.
ROG is the first Northern cheetah to be born at Fota and 179th cheetah reared in the wildlife park overall.
He is six weeks old today and is being cared for by park staff as his mother’s milk dried up.

This is without doubt Ronan’s greatest honour….. okay only joking, but we can’t wait to see what this little scamp gets up to!
