Here's something you don't see every day

An unusual visitor to our shores is spotted passing Roche's Point on the way out of Cork Harbour.

The Port of Cork had an unusual visitor recently - and eagle-eyed angler Jim Clohessy caught this great shot yesterday as she left the harbour on her way to the open seas.

The vessel in question was the HNLMS Dolfijn, a high-tech reconnaissance submarine operated by the Dutch Navy.

One of four Walrus-class vessels operated by the Royal Netherlands Navy, the Dolfjin is counted as being among the most modern and sophisticated non-nuclear submarines in the world.

The sub was is in Cork on a 'courtesy visit', according to The Irish Examiner
