Woman from public humiliation viral video arrested for assault

This lover's spat has gone a little too public – and resulted in a jealous girlfriend being arrested for assault.

A viral video from China showing a lover's argument in the middle of a public street last week has clocked up hundreds of thousands of views since it was released - showing a young woman beating her kneeling boyfriend based on her suspicions of fooling around.

A large crowd gathers, shouting encouragement to the man to get off his knees and defend himself, or to simply dump the woman.

The man never attempts to defend himself or strike back. According to the South China Morning Post, a woman passing by decided enough was enough and phoned the police – resulting in angry girlfriend being arrested for assault.

"Police received a report at around 5.10pm on October 4," the paper quotes a police statement as saying. "Police who arrived at the scene arrested a female, aged 20 and surnamed Cheng, for common assault.

"A victim, aged 23 and surnamed Chui, was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment."

Domestic violence is serious business, and it's good to see action taken swiftly, regardless of the person's sex.
