Jennifer Lawrence initially struggled to cope with fame.

The 23-year-old actress was catapulted into the spotlight with her role as leading lady Katniss Everdeen in 'The Hunger Games' and she can relate to her fictional alter-ego, who also became famous in her hometown in the film's sequel 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire'.

She told Empire magazine: "There is the connection in that she doesn't feel like she's part of town anymore. Now everyone treats her like a celebrity…

"Whereas she still feels like she's part of them. I get that a lot. I'll go and get a coffee where I always get coffee and all of a sudden there's this weird mood, and I'm like 'Come on, I still get coffee here, just say hello.' "

However the brunette beauty is adapting to her newfound stardom despite finding the initial buzz difficult to cope with.

She told Empire magazine: "Right now, I don't have anyone [following me]. It was very intense for a while and I thought 'Oh God I cannot do this.' But it goes away and comes back, so it's not actually as horrible as I thought it was going to be."
