Frog photobombs NASA launch

NASA last weekend sent its newest robotic explorer into space aboard an unmanned Minotaur V rocket.

The Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer (LADEE) rocket took off from Virginia, rather than the usual launch site of Cape Canaveral, Florida.

As scientists were studying the photos post-launched, they noticed something unusual.

They'd been photobombed by an apparently airborne frog.

In case your eyesight isn't what it used to be, here's a closeup of the hapless amphibian…

"The photo team confirms the frog is real and was captured in a single frame by one of the remote cameras used to photograph the launch," a spokesperson for the US space agency said.

"The condition of the frog, however, is uncertain.”

All together now…

"That's one giant leap for a frog…"
