Miley Cyrus' MTV Video Music Awards performance has been defended by its creative director.

Diane Martel - the woman behind the videos for 'We Can't Stop' and Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines' - has insisted she fully supported the former 'Hannah Montana' star "being over the top" with her suggestive use of a foam finger.
