TV stars to join top writers at Electric Picnic Literary Tent

There will be some very familiar faces at the Literary Tent at this weekend’s Electric Picnic festival.

Fans who miss out on what will surely be a packed comedy tent to see Dylan Moran will have another chance to see the Irish comedian at the more sedate surroundings of the Arts Council-sponsored venue.

The ’Black Books’ co-creator discuss his comic- and script-writing methods to fans and budding comedians alike.

‘Game of Thrones’, ‘The Wire’ and ‘Love/Hate’ star Aidan Gillen will also be making an appearance.

The Irish actor, who plays John Boy Power in the popular Dublin drama, will be joined by series creator and writer Stuart Carolan.

Other highlights include Eoin Colfer, creator of the popular Artemis Fowl series of books, who will be teaming with fellow Wexfordian and musical maverick, Pierce Turner.

Other Picnic pairings this year will include: Amy Huberman (actress and bestselling author of 'Hello, Heartbreak' and 'I Wished For You') with Róisin Ingle of The Irish Times; John Boyne (author of ‘The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas’, a novel that spent 80 weeks at the top of the Irish bestsellers’ list) and Mike McCormack (‘Notes From a Coma’); and Donal Ryan (author of 'The Spinning Heart', recently longlisted for this year’s Man Booker prize) in conversation with ‘The Book of Irish Mammies’ writer and Twitter star Colm O’Regan.

This year’s Arts Council Literary Tent has been curated by Raymond Bell, editor of ‘Possessed of a Past: A John Banville Reader’.

Tickets for the arts and music festival in Stradbally, Co Laois, have now sold out.
