Music fans warned over alcohol consumption at Slane

Shuttle buses leaving the city for Slane tomorrow will be searched for alcohol as part of a major clampdown on anti-social behaviour.

Around 80,000 people are expected to descend on Slane Castle for Eminem's long-awaited gig.

The US rapper was due to play the venue eight years ago, but cancelled due to exhaustion.

"Anybody whose intention it is to arrive here in Slane highly intoxicated will not get access to the site," said Superintendent Michael Devine.

"We have a number of additional search tents and search facilities put in place."

Fans have also been warned to avoid the River Boyne, where two people drowned during an REM concert in 1995.
