The 73-year-old singer - who won the first series of the BBC One show with act Leanne Mitchell - is keen to follow in the footsteps of his fellow judges Jessie J and Danny O'Donoghue, but bosses have struck up a charm offensive to stop the star from bailing out of the third series.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "Tom leaving would be another massive blow for 'The Voice'. His credibility is a huge asset and he would be very hard to replace.
