When publicity stunts go wrong
Apparently some bright spark thought it would be good to release 100 helium balloons, with vouchers for a free LG smartphone attached to them, as a publicity stunt.
The result? Twenty injured and a series of other LG events cancelled due to safety fears.
You see the publicity people in Seoul, South Korea, didn't think that customers would come along with BB guns and knives on sticks in the race to grab the vouchers.
The promotion even attracted a woman with what has been described as a "pointed staff" (about 1 minute 23 seconds into the clip below), more like a bloody javelin, all the better for her to pluck a voucher from the sky.
In their defence, LG said they would cover the hospital costs of the people who were hurt on Friday.
