Irish lad in Oz puts cardboard-box castle up for rent, gets serious offers
It turns out a little bit of Irish humour can be misunderstood in Australia.
Irishman Darragh Cullen is living in Darwin, and was knocked out of work with a broken leg, so he took on a lighter construction project with this cardboard castle. As you do.
Then the carpenter from Swords, in a bit of typical Irish wit, popped it up on Gumtree as a property ad - and got people looking to rent it.
"I've had four serious calls and people have been texting and emailing," Cullen told Northern Territories News.
"One guy I was explaining to him that it was just a joke but he didn't speak English so I ended up telling him that the room's already gone."
This isn't a joke either - he literally made the front page!

Darwin's rental market is the most expensive in Australia - which might explain why people are seriously pitching AUD $200 a month or so for a cardboard box.
Rents average roughly AUD $750 for houses and $550 for apartment units- a week. That's about €350, every week.
The cardboard box isn't looking too bad, is it?
