Alan Partridge movie premiere set for his hometown of Norwich
The premiere of fictional DJ Alan Partridge’s new film will be held in his home city of Norwich after a campaign by fans.
The film Alpha Papa, starring comedian Steve Coogan, was shot at locations across Norfolk earlier this year.
Since then a Twitter campaign dubbed Anglia Square Not Leicester Square has called for the movie to be premiered in Partridge’s home city.
Today production company Studio Canal tweeted a message from Partridge.
It said: “You can imagine how hurt and litigious I felt when people said I was planning to debut my movie in London instead of Norwich, or that I’d allowed my head to be turned by the prospect of big city fame.”

The star will greet fans at a lunchtime premiere on July 24 at the city’s Anglia Square before boarding a helicopter to transport him to the London premiere in Leicester Square.
“Any suggestions I’ve hastily cobbled together the lunchtime Norwich screening in response to a local Twitter campaign will be met with the full force of the law,” the message added.
