Here's a life-sized Star Wars spaceship - made of Lego
It’s the largest Lego model ever constructed – of course it had to be a Star Wars spaceship.
The Lego love affair with Star Wars was brought to new eye-popping heights recently as X-Wing Starfighter made from more than 5.3 million pieces touched down in Times Square in New York recently.
It took the 32 builders in Kladno, Czech Republic, around 17,000 hours over four months to build it.
Measuring 11 feet high, 43 feet long with a 44-foot wingspan, it’s a life-size replica of the notional “real” ship.
Lego Master Builder, and candidate for Coolest Job in the World, Erik Varszegi, explained what it takes to make a giant spaceship by sticking tiny little plastic bricks together - 5,335,200 to be exact.
The work doesn’t stop there though. Next for the record-breaking starship is a trip to Legoland in California after it is deconstructed and moved from New York on Sunday.
You can even buy one yourself! But don’t go making plans for that house extension just yet Lego/Star Wars geeks - the consumer version will be 42 times smaller.
