Rookie news anchor gets the chop after worst first day ever. Too harsh?

Pity poor AJ Clemente.

Monday morning you're starting your dream job as a news anchor on KFYR-TV, based in Bismarck, North Dakota, and after the first broadcast you're fired.

Clemente said the outburst came after he was frustrated by trying to pronounce the name of London Marathon winner Tsegaye Kebede.

Not surprisingly, he got booted out of the job quick smart.

KFYR-TV News Director Monica Hannan later took to Facebook to apologise for Clemente's cussing.

"He did not realize his microphone was on, but still, that's no excuse," Hannan wrote.

"We train our reporters to always assume that any microphone is live at any time. Unfortunately, that was not enough in this case.

"All we can do at this point is ask for your forgiveness, and I can offer my personal assurance that I will do my best to ensure that nothing like this ever happens again under my watch."

Despite getting the sack, and joining the news-anchor-blooper hall of fame, AJ is staying positive, at least.
