Live stream from the Olympia: Barretstown Inspirations Gig

Some of the biggest names in Irish music are playing the Olympia tonight in aid of Barretstown.

The fifth Barretstown Inspirations gig will feature The Coronas, Lisa Hannigan, The Strypes, The Walls, The Frank & Walters and Maud in Cahoots will be performing songs by their musical heroes along with some of their own material.

The event will also feature a rare live performance from founding member of 10cc Kevin Godley, who will be performing a duet with Republic of Loose.

Further special guests on the night include Tara Lee, well known for her role in RTE drama ‘Raw’, as well as host Ian Dempsey.

Founded by the late Hollywood actor Paul Newman and modelled on his renowned Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in Connecticut, Barretstown has helped over 25,000 children with cancer and other life threatening illnesses since 1994.

The camps are entirely free of charge to the children and their families so the Inspirations gig will raise much needed funds to enable Barretstown to welcome even more children this year.

The Barretstown Therapeutic Recreation Programme provides fun activity-based challenges through entertainment and outdoor challenges enabling sick children to build their confidence, self-esteem, independence and realise their full potential.

The activities are carefully directed through psychosocial support programmes which are now considered to be an integral part of treatment and recovery from serious illness.
