‘Please neuter this cat’: how one tabby had a close shave
Unhappy neighbours shaved a pet cat and scrawled “please neuter this cat” on its bare skin after an apparent case of mistaken identity.
Horrified owner Sharon Munns, 42, found her pet tabby Becks with the marker pen message on his back even though he had the operation to cut his sex drive eight years ago.
Another cat nearby had been getting frisky, leading to owners of female cats getting annoyed and seeking revenge – only to pick out the wrong male cat.
Munns told Bedfordshire on Sunday: “There’s obviously been a tabby going round trying it on with female cats. We had Becks neutered eight years ago so it must be someone new to the area who is not aware or they have got him mixed up with another cat.”
“I wanted to go out and knock on everybody’s door to find out who had done it. I couldn’t believe it and don’t know who could have done such a thing. We think he’s ok.”
She immediately reported the incident to the RSPCA, where a spokesperson added: “This must have been a very frightening experience for the cat and we understand the owners’ distress at this senseless attack on their pet.”
