Radiohead lyric on Lavigne's new song attracts attention

Avril Lavigne references Radiohead on her new track.

The 'Sk8r Boi' singer has released a new song, 'Here's To Never Growing Up' - co-written with fiance Chad Kroeger and taken from her forthcoming fifth album - and the lyrics reference the Thom Yorke-fronted British band.

In the track, she sings the line: "Singing Radiohead at the top of our lungs / with the boombox blaring as we're falling in love."

The acoustic song, and its Radiohead lyric in particular, has already attracted praise from one celebrity fan.

Chad recently admitted he works with Avril in a different way to how he writes for his rock band.

"Obviously with her I wasn't going to tune the guitars down and put on as much distortion as possible", he explained.

"You start acoustically, with a piano, and you start moving that way. When I'm with her, I'm mostly the lyric guy, she does a lot of the melody and I'll help out with lyrics and chord progressions wherever I can."
