It's all going off!

What is it about Sunday evenings and Irish celebrities warring on Twitter?

Last week we had Brian Kennedy and the Viper Higgins going at it hammer and tongs, this week yet more well-known Irish names have been tearing strips off each other on the social media platform.

*DING*

First up are Niall Breslin - AKA Bressie - and Amanda Brunker - AKA… um, Amanda.

The 'Voice of Ireland' judge/musical beefcake took exception to La Brunk's Sunday newspaper column yesterday, tweeting:

Bressie's been making a few headlines after comments in an interview relating to cannabis - he inhaled, basically - were picked up by other media this week and culminated in Brunker dubbing him a "huge dope" in her ever-so-over-the-top column.

In fairness, the writer and former model didn't rise to the fight last night, linking instead to Bressie's blogged explanation of his thoughts on drugs'n'stuff.

But hey, Bressie's got an album out and Brunks has got a column to draw attention to, so that's all gravy.

So that one fizzled out, unlike…

*DING*

While Brunks v Brez was definitely the undercard, this was the main event.

Now breakout Irish MMA star Conor McGregor is one man that you wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of - especially given his sensational UFC debut in Stockholm on Saturday, which saw him knock out his opponent in 67 seconds and walk away with a cool $60k bonus.

But Olympic medalist Ken Egan did just that last night with a possibly ill-advised tweet comparing MMA to 'Brokeback Mountain'.

McGregor was not best pleased.

Egan plays the 'joke' card.

But Conor's not laughing.

Were that us, we'd be worried. But Ken's a big boy.

Still, it makes for great entertainment.
