Niall has braces taken out

Niall Horan has had his braces removed.

The One Direction heartthrob had the teeth adjusting devices taken off by his dentist yesterday, leaving him with a perfectly straight, white smile.

Tweeting his excitement, he wrote: "This is it ! I'm goin to the dentist! I think this is my last hour with braces! Oh how I'm gona miss them ! Naaaaaaat ! (sic)"

Niall, 19, had the braces fitted in 2011 and opted for clear ones, which are more expensive but less visible than metal versions.

In a before and after picture posted by the singer, his teeth are also visibly whiter, after having bleaching treatments in the later stages of reality show 'The X Factor' on which One Direction were formed.

The only people who may be a little upset by Niall's dental fixtures being removed are Madame Tussauds, who yesterday unveiled preview pictures of the waxworks of One Direction they are working on, set to be unveiled on April 18. On Niall's statue his brace has painstakingly been recreated. It is unknown whether sculptors now plan to remove it.

The band - which also includes Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson - were first measured up for their wax figures in January and each one costs around €175,000 to make.

After the waxworks have been displayed in London, they will move to New York in July then Sydney in October.

One Direction are currently on the UK leg of their Take Me Home Tour until April 29 when it moves to mainland Europe.
