HOOP DREAMS: Pictures from the national schools basketball finals

The National Basketball Arena in Tallaght is the place to be this week as it plays host to the All Ireland Schools Basketball League Finals.

Tough battles have been fought out on court with emotions - of supporters and players alike - running the gamut.

First to take to the court yesterday were the girls from Presentation Secondary School, Waterford, who met St. Louis Secondary School, Monaghan in the U16 B Girls final.

Pres Waterford won the match 46-35.

In the U16 A girls' final, Virginia College, Cavan took the cup with a 45-44 victory over Christ King Secondary School, Cork.

But there was bitter disappointment on the faces of Christ King fans

Also contested was the U19 A Boys final, with St Malachy’s College Belfast notching a 59-54 win over Presentation College Bray.

The action continued today with the U16 B Boys final, where Cnoc Mhuire Granard ran out 45-36 winners over Moyle Park College, Dublin.

Still to be played today are the U19B Boys final between St Columbs of Derry and Kinsale Community School, and the U16C Girls decider between Mercy Ballymahon and Colaiste Oiriall.
