Somebody in Scotland Yard has a sense of humour…
Britain's Queen Elizabeth was admitted to hospital yesterday suffering from gastroenteritis, and somebody in police HQ seemingly decided to have a laugh.
"I know, let's send the tallest and smallest coppers in Britain to stand outside the door," is how the conversation possibly went.
Here are the two bobbies sent to guard the entrance to King Edward VII’s Hospital in central London.
On the left is Pc Anthony Wallyn, who stands at 7ft 2ins tall and whose nicknames include Big Tower, Tiny and Freak.
Yes, he is the tallest police officer in Britain, requires a custom made uniform and wears size 17 shoes.
On the right is his colleague Pc Tony Thich, who is 5ft 6ins and the smallest officer in the Met's Westminster Borough Support Unit.
Together they are known as Big Tone and Little Tone.
We are not making this up.
