Stand-up comedy in Qatar has a familiar ring to it
First there was Mrs Brown's Boys on the BBC, now this.
Yes, that is a strong Dublin accent you're hearing.
It belongs to Hamad Al-Amari, who was brought up in Goatstown and now lives in the Emirate of Qatar.
A banker by day, Hamad moonlights as one of a new breed of Qatari stand-ups, where his strong Irish lilt certainly makes him stand out from the crowd.
It's a risky profession in a country where a poet can be jailed for life over 'offensive' verse.
But is Hamad funny? You'll have to judge for yourself - he's certainly up to speed on topical news…
We're calling him Qatar's Des Bishop, and we're expecting great things.
