Rihanna and Drake lead VMAs nominations
Rihanna and Drake lead the MTV Video Music Awards 2012 with five nominations each.
The singer and rapper share a nod in the Best Video category, for their collaboration 'Take Care', while Rihanna also has another nomination in the coveted section, for her 'We Found Love' single. Also nominated for Best Video are Katy Perry for 'Wide Awake', Gotye for 'Somebody That I Used To Know' and M.I.A. for her song 'Bad Girls'.
Katy is second in the nominations list with four nods, while artists including M.I.A. and Coldplay have three each.
Scoring their first ever nominations at the event are artists including The Wanted, Carly Rae Jepsen, A$AP Rocky, Frank Ocean and Gotye.
The awards will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on September 7, and feature performances from Alicia Keys - who will sing an entirely new track - and boy band One Direction.
Alicia said: "Debuting a new song at the VMAs is definitely special. I debuted 'No One' at the VMAs - it was the first time anyone in the world heard it.
"It's the perfect setting. It's the right energy. It's the right vibe. People are so excited about the night of music and hearing different styles that it just goes over really well. I can't wait!"
