Britney makes 'X Factor' debut

Britney Spears was a huge hit with the crowd during her first day as an 'X Factor' judge.

The 'Toxic' singer, who has joined Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid and fellow newcomer Demi Lovato on the panel, made her debut in Austin, Texas, yesterday.

Many of her comments were met with huge cheers from the audience.

Insiders say Spears - who had a highly publicised breakdown from 2007 to 2008 - was articulate, encouraging and funny at times.

According to gossip website TMZ, Spears and Lovato clashed over the first act, with neither one afraid to give their opinion.

During and after the first audition, which took place at the Frank Erwin Center, both Spears and Lovato took to twitter to share their 'X Factor. excitement.

Mother-of-two Britney wrote: "So excited to be going to Austin this week for @TheXFactorUSA auditions! Will I see any of y'all there on Thurs or Fri?"
