Cohen to play fourth Dublin date

Due to unprecedented demand, Leonard Cohen has added a fourth and final night to his series of concerts in Dublin this summer.

Tickets for the legendary songwriter's gig on Saturday September 15 will go on sale from next Monday May 28.

The concert will take place in the grounds of the Royal Hospital in Kilmainham with tickets priced from €79.50.

“Leonard Cohen – never a performer to disappoint his audience has enthralled Irish audiences over the past few years,” said a spokeswoman for organisers POD and AEG Live.

“Such is the demand to see this legendary performer in action he has now pledged to play a fourth date.”

Cohen is returning to the spot where he was reduced to tears by the Irish audience four years ago.

The 77-year-old singer broke a 10-year hiatus from live shows by performing in the grounds of the Irish Museum of Modern Art in 2008.

Overwhelmed by the reception at the performance, he recalled: “We were playing in Ireland and the reception was so warm that tears came to my eyes and I thought: ’I can’t be seen weeping at this point’ – then I turned around and saw the guitar player weeping.”

Cohen cites WB Yeats as one of his major inspirations and his work is some of the most re-recorded.
