O'Carroll shocked at Bafta nods for 'Mrs Brown's Boys'
Brendan O'Carroll has said he was shocked to be nominated for two Bafta nominations for 'Mrs Brown's Boys'.
O'Carroll has been nominated in the 'Male Performance in a Comedy Programme', while the show will also battle it out for the top sitcom title.
The awards bash will happen on May 27.
A delighted O'Carroll said he was shocked when the TV series was picked up by the BBC - and even more shocked to receive the Bafta nomination.
Speaking to Dublin's 98FM he explains why they decided to adapt the show for television.
"The last thing that was left was TV…(Mrs Brown) started as a radio show, and then three novels and then a movie starring Anjelica Houston. Then she had a hit record…the only thing that was left was telly," he said.
"It had been successful in all the other genres, but telly is so different (because0 it's so instant."
