Douglas set for big-screen return

Michael Douglas is returning to the big screen after fighting off throat cancer.

The 67-year-old actor - who is married to 42-year-old actress Catherine Zeta-Jones - is set to star in ensemble comedy 'Las Vegas'.

The film will see him play an ageing ladies' man who is in denial about becoming old, but who settles down and ties the knot with a woman half his age.

Michael was previously linked with the movie three years ago, but he was diagnosed with cancer in August 2010 and he took time out from acting to battle the disease.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, 'Crazy, Stupid, Love' writer Dan Fogelman will pen the script for the movie - to which Dustin Hoffman and Christopher Walken have both been linked - and John Turteltaub will direct the project.

The film tells the story of Michael's alter-ego inviting his three childhood best friends to party with him on his Las Vegas stag night, which leads to tension after it emerges two of the men loved the same woman when they were teenagers.

Michael's last movie appearance saw him star in Steven Soderbergh's action movie 'Haywire', which was shot in early 2010 and released earlier this year.
