Thousands compete at Feis Ceoil

The Electric Ireland Feis Ceoil 2012 is continuing in venues across Dublin today.

The RDS and the National Concert Hall are the focal points for this year's festivities, complimented by smaller events all over the city.

Talented musicians have flocked from the four corners of the country, vying for elusive prizes in more than 180 competitions. Categories range from orchestra and instrumental to choir and solo singing.

More than 5,000 musicians, from the age of seven upwards, are taking part this year.

2012 marks Electric Ireland's fourth year as the sponsor of Dublin Feis Ceoil.

Previous winners at the Feis include such luminaries as novelist James Joyce, concert pianist Conor Linehan and 'Aprés Match' comedian Risteard Cooper.
