Biggest Loser contestant Gerard: Weight loss hard, but worth it

Limerick man Gerard Burke, who appeared on the reality TV show 'The Biggest Loser', has said he made a choice to either lose the weight or kill himself eating.

At his heaviest, the 24-year-old tipped the scales at over 23 stone. He dropped almost 14 stone taking part in the show and now wants to help educate children about the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

Gerard is supporting the 'Way to Go Kids!' programme, which aims to tackle childhood obesity.

He said: "First off, you've to get into the right mind set. You have to be determined to lose it…It's hard. It's a tough process, but in the long term, it's well worth it."
