Sue Johnston is being lined up for a role in 'Coronation Street'.
The 'Royle Family' star has been approached by show bosses from the ITV1 soap to take on the part of landlady Stella Price's (Michelle Collins) mother and she is reportedly "keen" to sign up.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Everyone is thrilled. She's a brilliant actress. We can't wait to have a member of the Royle Family walking down those famous cobbles and enjoying a drink in the Rovers Return.
"Sue would be a perfect addition to Weatherfield. She is the only person we are talking to about the role. She is keen and we're keen so hopefully it should be a done deal very soon."
This would not be the first time Sue has appeared in the famous soap, she had a brief appearance as bookie Sammy Chadwick's wife in the early 1980s before going on to find fame in 'Brookside' as Sheila Grant.
Sue and her 'Brookside' co-star Ricky Tomlinson then went on to win a new generation of fans with their roles as Barbara and Jim Royle on 'The Royle Family'.
