Cole hits back at Lloyd jibes
Cheryl Cole has hit back at former protégée Cher Lloyd after the X Factor star took a swipe at her singing abilities.
Lloyd appeared to suggest in a recent interview that the only way she might be able to perform live with her former TV mentor was if Cole were allowed to use Autotune technology to correct her voice.
But 'Fight For This Love' singer Cole appeared to warn her to be more gracious about other people.
Lloyd recently said she would perform with the Girls Aloud star only if she sang live, and that she had not heard from Cole since she was mentored by her on the 2010 'X Factor'.
Cole posted a message on Twitter saying: “Be careful who you kick on your way up... They kick you twice as hard on your way back down.”
She added the phrase: “Unappreciation is ugly.”
It followed comments by Lloyd, who has often mentioned the lack of contact with Cole since 'X Factor', on Real Radio North West’s 'Real Breakfast Show' earlier this week.
She was asked if she would consider performing with Cole and responded: “Maybe, if she’d sing live with me.”
The presenter pointed out that it sounded like she was posing a challenge to Cole, and the teenager replied: “Well, it always is nowadays, when you ain’t got the nifty little buttons to press.”
Asked if she was referring to Autotune – which can be used to correct off-key notes by singers – she replied: “What, oh no? Never, never ever!”
