Chris O' Dowd was "blown away" with how funny 'Bridesmaids' was the first time he saw it.

The Irish actor plays Officer Nathan Rhodes – the love interest of the main character Annie (Kristen Wiig) - in the comedy and although Chris was sure the film would be a success, he admitted even he was surprised by the finished product.

He said: "I knew it would do well because of the people involved and I really enjoyed working on it but I didn't think that it was going to that huge until I saw it for the first time. I was kind of blown away by how funny the women, particularly Kristen, were. It just struck me as something that was very special.

"This job is all about the people that you're working with so when you're working with people that are really on top of their game, they end up pushing you a little bit which makes you feel very energised and very excited."

Chris has just been announced as an ambassador of a the Jameson Empire Done in 60 Seconds competition, which encourages aspiring filmmakers to make a one-minute movie.

"I was a judge on it last year and I had such a great time and really enjoyed it," he said.

"The prospect of watching these fantastic and amazing filmmakers that when Jameson Empire asked me to become an ambassador, I was honoured.

"My advice for people would be to put an interesting spin on an already established idea. Try and get as much as you can out of very little money. Just be creative really, and find a twist that will crack the lock of filmmaking."

The Jameson Empire Done in 60 Seconds competition is open now for entries - go to jamesonempirediss.com to enter. The competition closes on January 20, 2012.
