'X Factor' hopes for Adele finale
'X Factor' bosses are hoping record-breaking chart star Adele will appear at the show’s final, just weeks after her voice-saving surgery.
She has been pencilled in to appear at Wembley Arena for the finale of the ITV1 series next month.
However the date depends on whether she has had enough time to recover from the operation she underwent in the US earlier this month to repair a vocal cord haemorrhage.
She has already said she is “on the mend” in a blog recently. The condition led to a number of gigs being cancelled and had threatened to ruin her voice permanently.
A programme source said: “She’s one of the world’s biggest stars so we’d love her to perform at the final – we are just hoping she recovers in time.”
The 'X Factor' final takes place on December 11, with a number of other big name acts being lined up.
Earlier this year Adele spoke of her unease at playing arena shows and said she had turned down gig deals potentially worth millions of pounds because she did not feel comfortable performing them.
She said she was frightened of large audiences and was worried about having an “anxiety attack”, and joked she would prefer to to do a lengthy residence at somewhere like the Barfly venue in Camden, north London.
Adele said she had told her management: “I’d rather do 12 years at the Barfly than one night at the O2.”
She added: “So I’ve made all those decisions and some people are pretty mortified – they think I’m mad.”
