Jungle-bound Poynter claims 'I can eat 863 bugs in a minute'

Dougie Poynter is not prepared to strip off on 'I'm A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!'.

The McFly bassist doesn’t feel he is in good enough shape to show off his body on the ITV1 show, unlike his bandmate Harry Judd, who has impressed 'Strictly Come Dancing' viewers by flashing his six-pack in front of the cameras.

He told The Sun: "I don't work out. I should have done before I came here instead of eating my weigh in peanut M&Ms."

The 23-year-old musician – who is set star in the Australian jungle-based show alongside the likes of 'The Only Way is Essex' hunk Mark Wright and 'Coronation Street' actor Antony Cotton – is not afraid of facing gruesome challenges on the programme, which could include eating creepy crawlies.

Speaking in a web chat on ITV.com, he said: “I'm looking forward to the whole thing. Living in the jungle’s going to be pretty rad.

“I’m going to learn some new skills, like digging holes, setting traps and general life skills.

“I would give everything a go. I can eat 863 bugs in a minute.

“The whole reason I'm doing this is to capture some pets and bring them back.”
