Kitty regrets Britney past

Kitty Brucknell wishes she had never been a Britney Spears impersonator.

The eccentric 'X Factor' hopeful - who performed as the 'Womanizer' hitmaker and Lady Gaga before appearing on the ITV1 show - thinks she is "stuck" with the label of her former idols, and wants to "move on" from her past to progress in the competition.

She said: "You know what - sometimes I wish I'd never done that stuff. Now all everyone thinks of me is, 'Oh, there's that Britney impersonator'. I'm a singer, I want to sing but I've never been able to get away from that.

"Coming on the show is my way of moving on - but even now I feel like I'm stuck. For a time, Britney Spears was huge and I was the best impersonator around. If someone wants to pay me X amount to sing songs I love for a night then why would I turn it down?

"But I've done it so long now it's time to move on. I wish people could see another side of me - I really do."

Despite being keen to shun her former image, the 26-year-old singer was glad of being able to perform Lady Gaga's 'Edge Of Glory' when she landed in the bottom two alongside Sami Brookes on last weekend's show because she knows the track "inside out".

Kitty added to The Sun newspaper: "I know those songs inside out and back to front so it made me relax for what was quite a crucial moment."
